In the past year we have given work/recording experience to pupils from Stowe, from Bedales and most recently, from Aldenham. All reported that they enjoyed the experience and benefited from it. These ‘experiences’, however, are inevitably determined by the needs of each client, and consequently the real value to the pupils tends to vary somewhat.

We are now launching a ‘compressed’ one-day workshop at EQ Studios where 2-3 pupils for example – generally 5th/6th formers studying Music and/or Music Technology - will not only have the opportunity of work experience, but they will also effectively become the client for the day. This guarantees they will get real insight into how a professional studio operates.

The pupils should bring along a pre-determined  song, and, with our help and guidance, build the piece into a professionally mixed and mastered CD.

During the course of the day, the pupils will learn more about:

Musical Arrangement (to include instrumentation, programming, harmonies

Sound Engineering (to include use of mikes, processors and effects, assigning and tracking)

Record Production (to include balancing, mixing and mastering)

The principal benefit to the pupils will be the experience of working on a familiar project with assistance and advice from professionals in a working-studio environment.

Each pupil will receive a certificate to record their participation in the workshop, plus detailed notes of some of the processes taught to them.

The proposed charge for this one-day course is £600.00 per group.

We need your help to make this service visible to your pupils, and to that end,  we propose that Mr John Hamilton, proprietor and chief engineer at EQ Studios, make himself available for a three hour music production seminar at your school on a quid pro quo basis.

The course is available from 1st March 2008

I would be pleased to discuss this in more detail either by phone or by a mutually arranged visit.
